Model Town case: Two PAT leaders want to join investigation
PAT leaders Sajid Bhatti and Tanvir Azam reached Faisal Town Police Station in Lahore to become part of the investigation of Model Town case. The on duty official asked them to come any other day on the excuse of the investigating officer not being present. The police, in its FIR No. 510, has made a baseless allegation against the both PAT leaders that they fired at the police in front of the central secretariat on June 17, 2014. It got both the leaders declared as proclaimed offenders through a self-styled proceedings and submitted a challan in the anti-terrorism court.
Both leaders got bail from the court and reached the Faisal Town police station to join the investigation and record their statement. Complainant Jawad Hamid, Naeem-ud-Din Chaudhry Advocate, Sardar Ghazanfar Advocate, and Noorullah Saddiqi also accompanied them to the police station.
Responding to the police duty official not including the PAT leaders into the investigation, the party’s lawyers said that they had come to the police station to join the investigation on the orders of the court. Not recording their statement and not including them in the investigation constitutes the violation of the court order. They said that from the hindsight, it appears that the police wants to delay the case through different tactics and is not serious in completing the investigation.
Jawad Hamid, speaking on the occasion, said that the Police registered a fake FIR No 510 against the PAT workers and now it is not ready to face up to it.
