Credit for eliminating terrorism goes to military: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri
PAT Chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that Nawaz Sharif is among those who promote terrorism, not end it. The credit for significantly reducing terrorism goes to the Pakistan Army that launched Operation Zarb-e-Azb and Radd-ul-Fasaad to eliminate terrorism. He said that Nawaz Sharif was not only against the Swat operation but also delayed decision on the start of the Operation Zarb-e-Azb. He said that the ousted premier also undermined the National Action Plan. He said that the people of the four provinces will reject the killers of the innocent people in Model Town in the upcoming election.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri made these remarks while talking to the members of the central Core Committee through telephone yesterday. He said that the Chief Justice’s notice in the matter of privatization of the PIA is welcome. He said that there is nothing wrong with privatization on the whole but the history bears witness to the fact that the rulers sold out the state enterprises to their front men in the past for a pittance.
The PAT Chairman said that it was his considered opinion yesterday that Nawaz Sharif is a security risk and a stooge of the international powers, stating that there is no change in our stance and we are of the same opinion today as well. He said that the Sharif family is purposefully targeting the security institutions and judiciary at the behest of someone. He said that as the time of decision of the accountability court in corruption cases approaches, the intensity of his venom against the institutions is increasing. He warned that if the corrupt Sharif family got any kind of relief this time round, then the institutions of the accountability will never be able to hold any big fish to account.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that the ruling political elite considers the army and judiciary as a hurdle in the way of their designs. Their desire is to get a mandate to tinker with the Constitution so that they can reduce the apex court to the level of local Panchayat and the army to the Punjab police. He, however, added in the same breath that they would never be able to succeed in their designs this time round.
Dr Qadri said that justice in case of the Model Town tragedy is left to be administered. He said that 14 dead bodies await justice to this day. He said that the family members of the martyrs are looking towards the judiciary, stating that a major reason as to why justice has been delayed is that the killers are in power. He said that God willing, the sun of power of the corrupt rulers has set now and they will be in the dock soon, answering for their crimes. He asked the Chief Justice to minutely review the PIA sell-out plan, why the profitable routes were sold, to which air liner and why. He said that it is our demand that a high-powered commission should be set up to review the performance of the present government during the last five years so that the nation should know as to why heavy loans were taken and where they were spent.
