Youth are ‘raw material’ for national development: Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri
Addressing the concluding session of the ‘Youth Parliament’ held under the banner of Minhaj Youth League, Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, chairman of the MQI Supreme Council, has said that the youth are raw material for national defence, peace and prosperity. He said that this priceless treasure of human workforce is falling prey to corrupt political system. He said that the budgetary allocation for higher education and research in Pakistan happens to be the lowest in the entire South Asian region. He said that inability to provide employment to the educated youth commensurate with their qualifications is the worst failure on the governance front. He said that the qualified youth are forced to immigrate to the foreign lands due to rampant corruption, nepotism and violation of merit at home.
Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that there is only one leader in Pakistan who fulfilled the responsibility of imparting education and education to the youth and guiding them along the right path amid various challenges, stating that the world knows this leader by the name of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri. He hinted that the struggle will be paced up in months to come to save the country from the corrupt political elite. He said that MQI waged exemplary struggle against terrorism, extremism, militancy and radicalism at the intellectual and ideological front. He said that the ambassadors of peace went to every nook and corner of the country with the message of peace, tolerance, love and moderation.
Mazhar Alvi and Mansoor Qasim, president and secretary general of MYL, performed the role of the speaker and deputy speaker of the youth parliament. Ateeq-ur-Rehman and Amjad Chand delivered special lectures on social media in the meeting. Noorullah Siddiqi, Ch. Ali Raza Natt, Umar Qureshi, Inam Mustafavi, Asmat Ali and Ismail Inam also spoke to the session of the youth parliament. The presidents and secretary generals of MYL from across the four provinces including Gilgit-Baltisitan and AJ&K attended the session.
The youth parliament adopted a resolution, seeking justice for the families of the martyrs of the Model Town tragedy and demanding the meting out of exemplary punishment to the perpetrators of the tragedy. Another resolution adopted on the occasion criticized the ruling party for its campaign to defame the national institutions and putting the judiciary and army on media trial. The youth parliament also regretted the silence of Pemra on the defamation campaign by the ruling party.
Speaker of the youth parliament Mazhar Alvi warned that the neglect of the youth who form 60% of the national population will result in grave consequences for the society. He said that the system of elections needs to be reformed to bring the youth into the national mainstream. He said that profiteering business class has become dominant in the political parties and the mandate is bought with the power of purse. He said that the political parties prefer the moneyed families and individuals to the youth due to former’s deep pockets.
MYL President said that the youth will stop this negative tradition with the power of unity and clarity of thought. He said that a national youth alliance consisting of the youth wings of all religious and political parties has been set up for this purpose. He said that we are struggling for such an electoral system in the light of the vision of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri as not only accommodates the youth but also the eligible representatives of the less privileged sections of society so that they could reach the legislatures and protect the interests of their people.
The session of the youth parliament was also attended by former office bearers of MYL. Mazhar Mahmood Alvi thanked the participants for their attendance.
