Pak Sarzameen Party announces support for PAT on Model Town tragedy
PAT Chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri addressed a press conference along with Pak Sarzameen Party leader Mustafa Kamal who called on him at his residence on Saturday at the head of a delegation. He said that a powerful and neutral JIT on the pattern of the Panama JIT should be formed for investigation of Model Town case. He said that the accused should leave their public positions immediately and hand themselves over to law in the light of Justice Najafi Commission report. He said that our demands do not stem from the position of weakness, adding that we are in a position to force such demands. He said that in case of refusal, we are ready for final political, legal and public struggle.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that operation was carried out to remove him from the way, not the barriers. He said that all the facts and circumstances are listed in the Najafi report in this regard. He said that the report has been damning and unmasked the faces of the perpetrators from head to toe. He said that 125 officials and bureaucrats who are involved in the massacre should be removed from their positions and unless final decision comes in the case, they should not be allowed to join.
The PAT Chairman praised the decisions of the single and then full benches of Lahore High Court for ordering publication of the Najafi Commission report. He thanked Mustafa Kamal for visiting to express solidarity of his party with the families of martyrs.
Addressing the press conference, Mustafa Kamal said that we strongly condemn Model Town tragedy. He said that due to untiring struggle of the PAT workers, truth has finally prevailed. He said that the very fact that the report was hushed up for three long years is a proof that those who did so are the real accused. He said that he pays rich tributes to the PAT workers for braving oppression and waging struggle with courage and steadfastness.
PSP leader said that a deal of cruelty was committed in Model Town, adding that only those who commit barbarism are not the oppressors. Rather those who keep a silence on the oppression are also included in the same category. He stated that he would not like to be grouped with the oppressors. He said that innocent women were shot dead, adding that those killed were not just PAT workers but the people of Pakistan. He asked the accused to surrender themselves to law and prove their innocence in the court of law. He said that the accused know that they are responsible for shedding blood of innocent people, that is why they did not have the courage to go to the Supreme Court.
Mustafa Kamal said that Justice Najafi clearly wrote in the report that in a meeting held on June 16, 2014, Rana Sanaullah, Home Secretary, and Secretary to Chief Minister were present, which means that the Chief Minister was on board in the entire operation. He said that whatever course of action Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri decides to adopt for justice, we will be standing by him. He said that if the way of oppression was not stopped today, then no oppressed will get a justice against the high and mighty in the land. He said that we stood up against the oppressors in Karachi, stating that wherever oppression is committed anywhere in Pakistan, we will be standing with the oppressed and the weak.
PAT Chairman also hosted a lunch in the honour of the visiting PSP delegation. The guests were welcomed by Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Fayyaz Warraich, Brig. (r ) Muhammad Mushtaq, Noorullah Siddiqi and Sajid Bhatti.
The ten-member PSP delegation included Raza Haroon, Iftikhar Randhawa, Qazi Afaq Jamal, Mubeen-un-Din, Karmat Sheikh, Barrister Mukhtar, Amjad Farooq Bismal and Danish Khan. The delegation also visited Gosha-e-Durood where Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri showed the cracks produced by bullets. He asked what barriers were there in Gosha-e-Durood which brought tears in the eyes of Mustafa Kamal.
