PAT seminar pays tributes to Allama Iqbal

A seminar on the thought of Iqbal was organized under the banner of PAT to pay tributes to the poet of East Allama Muhammad Iqbal on his 140th birth anniversary. Those who spoke on the occasion were PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Jamaat-e-Islami leader Dr Farid Ahmad Piracha, Iqbal’s grandson Waleed Iqbal, Dr Tahir Hameed Tanoli, Sajid Mahmood Bhatti, and Hafiz Ghulam Farid.

Addressing the seminar, Waleed Iqbal said that Allama Iqbal’s thought was marked by vastness. He said that in order to understand the authenticity of Islam, he studied different faiths and religions, adding that the more he read about other religions, the greater and stronger was his association with Islam, Quran and Sunna.

Dr Tahir Hameed Tanoli said that Allama Iqbal is the name of a life style and a thought process. He underlined the need of including the Iqbal’s thought into our system to get out of political, economic, social and ideological crises.

Dr Farid Ahmad Piracha said in his speech that Allama Muhammad Iqbal diagnosed all the problems in his poetry and prose with which our nation continues to be afflicted. He said that Pakistan’s peace and progress lies in implementing the teachings of the Holy Quran and Sunna and this is what constituted the core of Iqbal’s teachings. He said that great Allama had a vast understanding of western civilization but did not accept its impact because the teachings of the Quran and Sunna had a deep effect on his personality.

Hafiz Ghulam Farid said in his speech that Iqbal’s Pakistan is yearning for peaceful change and revolution. Sarfraz Ahmad read out a kalam of Allama Iqbal and pocketed huge praise from the audience.
