Order to summon IGP suspended without listening to families of martyrs: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri
PAT Chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that anti-terrorism court has suspended its order to summon IG Police without hearing the complainant in the private complaint case and the families of the martyrs. He said that Prosecution Department took an illegal and immoral step by supporting the IGP instead of those wronged by the police terrorism. He said that Prosecution comes to the aid of the aggrieved in the whole world but our Prosecution Department has set a novel example by extending its all-out support to the oppressors.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that it is the case of martyrdom of 14 persons and injuring of 100 others, adding that unilateral proceedings are not understandable. He said that the families of the martyrs and the injured are deeply hurt by this decision. He said that if the IGP did not get the order of shooting the innocent people implemented, did the lowly police officials and constables do that on their own?
Dr Qadri said that from IGP to Gullu Butt, everyone is getting relief, asking as to when the families of the martyrs will get justice. He said if there is anyone who can ask the rulers as to why they are sitting on the Model Town Commission report; is there anyone to ask IGP as to why he was sitting in his office when his police was killing innocent people; why did he not reach the scene and order the stoppage of indiscriminate action and why he did not take action against the DIG, SPs and SHOs who took law in their own hands.
The PAT Chairman said that there is not even an iota of doubt about the fact that rulers and ministers are responsible of Model Town tragedy. He said that we would continue to demand justice for the martyrs till the last breath of our lives and then will announce second round of the Qisas movement. He said that no authority or forum asked the perpetrators even a single question for shooting 100 people despite passage of 28 months. He said that so much so that the perpetrators have been promoted and now they are being provided relief through prosecution.
Dr Qadri said that IGP Mushtaq Sukhera is an abject failure of Punjab’s history for whom an effort was made to recommend Sitara-e-Imtiaz. He said that it was under his watch that the worst state terrorism was perpetrated, political and democratic freedom was crushed, political workers were picked up from their homes and tortured, a number of terrorist incidents took place, street crimes registered a massive increase and the whole police force appeared as a failed apparatus. He said that we would challenge the relief given to IGP.
