Hard to understand why state institutions are tolerating corrupt rulers: Dr Tahir ul Qadri
Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that it is hard to understand how and why the society and the state institutions are tolerating corrupt, cruel and murderous rule.
He expressed these views while talking to the media at the Lahore airport on Wednesday morning after arrival from the United Kingdom.
The PAT chairman said that the whole world watched the live coverage of the Model Town incident and saw policemen firing and killing innocent and unarmed PAT workers. But to the astonishment of the whole world not a single person who fired and killed PAT workers has been arrested. This can happen only in Pakistan and under the rule of the Sharifs, he said.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri warned the rulers that if they try to sweep the incident under the carpet then they will have to face the consequences and will meet such an agitation that they would forget the 2014 sit-ins. He said the PAT will get Qisas, and will not settle for anything lesser.
The PAT chief said that our First Information Report (FIR) was registered only after the Chief of the Army Staff intervened. He said we once again request the army chief to intervene and ensure that justice is served in the Model Town tragedy.
He said that if we ask the prime minister to give an account of his involvement in the Panama Leaks, he is taken ill and runs away to London for treatment, but time he is well enough to go to Muzaffarabad to join the celebrations of a victory. He said all those who have taken loans and those who have got loans written off must be exposed and bought before the courts.
Dr Qadri said that such a democracy is worth trashing in which the poor, helpless and destitute are not given their basic rights and are deprived of happiness by cruel rulers, who have only one motive in their lives and that is to amass wealth for themselves and for their families. He said such people will rot in hell and are collecting wealth which will be their food in the afterlife.
While commenting on the government’s handling of the Kashmir issue, he said: “Why does Nawaz not phone Modi now and inquire about the situation in Srinagar, since they exchange greetings on a regular basis?”
He said at first only one section of the constitution was changed to accommodate some favourites in the Election Commission but now numerous sections have been changed according to the wishes of these corrupt rulers. He said that without fresh legislation, new laws and election reforms, the country cannot have free, fair and independent elections. And if they are held under the prevailing laws they will once again be sham elections and will be full of rigging and fraud, he said.
The PAT chairman said that he will announce the future line of action after the consultative meeting with opposition parties on the 31st of this month, for which invitations have been issued and accepted by all the opposition political parties of the country.
The PAT chairman was welcomed by thousands of workers and leaders at the Lahore airport. Those present included Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Basharat Jaspal, Noor Ullah Sidiqui, Sajid Bhatti, Jawad Hamid, Raja Zahid and others.
The PAT chairman said he was saddened to hear of the martyrdom of army personal in Karachi. He said the civil authorities trying to bring the Zarb-e-Azb operation into disrepute, forgetting that this operation has bought peace with the sacrifice of thousands of our army personnel. He said the credit of whatever peace we have in the country goes to the armed forces and their sacrifices will not go to waste.
