Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri coming with agenda of national progress: PAT Core Committee
A meeting of central Core Committee of PAT was held under the chairmanship of Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri yesterday which reviewed arrangements for the protest on The Mall on June 17. A committee was constituted on the occasion, which would invite the traders’ organizations including those located at The Mall to attend the sit-in. Arrangements for reception of PAT Chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri on June 15 also came under discussion in the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that PPP, PTI, JI, PML-Q, and AML have assured of their participation in the protest. More committees were also set up to extend invitations to lawyers, civil society organizations, farmers and labour unions to attend the sit-in. A resolution was adopted in the meeting which condemned surge in load-shedding and price hike of eatables during Ramzan. It was observed that the government failed to honour its commitment to stop profiteering in the holy month. It was further stated that the quality of items being sold in the Ramzan bazaars was very poor.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri is coming to Pakistan with an agenda of national progress and prosperity on June 15. He said that the Sharifs’ drama of corruption in the name of democracy is going to wind up soon. He said that Dr Qadri’s vision is getting wide acceptance in Pakistan, which sounds a political death-knell for the rulers. He said that PAT has always waged peaceful struggle. He said that if the government threw spanners in the protest and tried to harass the workers coming to attend the sit-in, the rulers will be responsible for law and order. He said that the PAT workers will stage sit-in at the same place where they would be stopped, adding that if the government cooperated with us, we would reciprocate as well.
The PAT Secretary General said that the rulers are steeped in corruption from head to toe and their pretensions to the contrary would not be beneficial. He said that the people have the known the reality of the PML-N, adding that if nothing else, three-year performance of the government is enough to prove the point. He said that no power of the world can stop the revolution powered by the blood of martyrs of Model Town from coming. He said that the day is not far when the perpetrators of Model Town tragedy will face justice. He further stated that PAT is waging a struggle against corruption, intolerance, and terrorism.
The meeting was attended by Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, GM Malik, Khawaja Amir Fareed Koreja, Brig. (r ) Muhammad Iqbal, GM Malik, Qazi Faiz-ul-Islam, Tanvir Khan, Basharat Jaspal, Syed Altaf Hussain Shah, Noorullah Siddiqui and Sajid Bhatti.
