PAT decides to launch campaign for resignation of Prime Minister
Pakistan Awami Tehreek has decided to launch a countrywide protest campaign till the resignation of the Prime Minister over the Panama leaks. The protest drive has been named as ‘Give resignation campaign’. PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has issued a letter to the district chapters in this regard. The meeting, which was held with the PAT Secretary General in the chair, agreed that the sufficient proofs of the rulers’ corruption have come to the fore in the Panama leaks. It not only brought Pakistan into disrepute internationally but also deprived the PM of the moral basis to continue to stay on in power.
The meeting was attended by Major (r) Muhammad Saeed, Noorullah Siddiqui, Sajid Bhatti, Farah Naz, Naeem-ud-Din Chaudhry Advocate, Mazhar Alvi, Mir Asif Akbar, Shahzad Rasool, Rana Tajammul and others.
In the letter, the PAT Secretary General asked the district chapters of the party to run a campaign to apprise the masses about the corruption of the ruling family. He said that local and social media should be used in these campaigns. It was decided to hold the demonstrations in front of the press clubs in all districts.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that the looted money does not belong to any party but to Pakistan. He said that the Panama leaks have provided irrefutable proofs of corruption of rulers, adding that action, not commission, is required now. He said that our protest will continue till the looted money is brought home. He said that the workers of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri rendered sacrifices for elimination of corruption and oppressive system and faced hardships during the 70-day long sit-in. He said that this movement will reach its logical conclusion, adding that we will hold the perpetrators of Model Town tragedy accountable.
