A high-powered PAT delegation under the leadership of Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri visited the Nine Zero, MQM’s headquarters on Feb 28, 2016, and held a meeting with the Rabita Committee members. Central MQM leader and former Federal Minister Dr Farooq Sattar received the delegation on arrival. The leadership of both parties discussed matters of mutual interest in the meeting. Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri informed the MQM leadership about the developments on the Model Town case and the Zarb-e-Amn drive launched by PAT across the country.
Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that after the fraudulent investigation by the JIT, now injustice is being committed again at the level of court trial. He said that under Article 10-A of the Constitution, fair trial is our basic right but the same is being denied to us in broad day light. He said that we are being forced to take to the streets to get justice. He invited the MQM leadership to take part in the APC on Model Town tragedy being convened by PAT in Lahore which the latter accepted happily.
Dr Farooq Sattar, while speaking on the occasion, assured the visiting delegation that his party stands by the PAT on the Model Town issue and that they hold the struggle and sacrifices of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri for peaceful change in highest esteem. He said that the leaderships of both parties have similar thinking against oppression and exploitation. He said that political extremism is on the rise because the local government institutions have not been empowered.
The PAT leaders recollected that when the Model Town was besieged and hundreds of PAT men, women and children were entrapped inside without any food, medicines and water, these were MQM leaders who defied the government pressure and heavy handedness to deliver these things, adding that these things cannot be forgotten.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Makhdoom Nadeem Hashmi, Syed Ali Ost, Qazi Zahid Hussain, Fayyaz Warraich, Raja Zahid and Muhammad Junaid were members of the PAT delegation.
