Punjab’s ‘good’ governance getting exposed every day: PAT
PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has asked the PML-N to stop being hypocritical on Kalabagh dam. He said that if the hydropower project was that important, why did the Prime Minister strike it down from the manifesto of the party before General Elections 2013?
Khurram Nawaz Gandpur expressed these views while addressing party workers and leaders at a review meeting held to discuss the preparations for local government polls at the central secretariat. GM Malik, Sajid Bhatti, Nooruallah Siddiqui, Jawad Hamid, Shahzad Rasool and others were present on the occasion.
The PAT Secretary General said that the Punjab Assembly approved a unanimous resolution in 2012 in connection with creation of national consensus for construction of Kalabagh dam. He said that the PML-N federal government did not implement the resolution adopted by the PML-N provincial government despite passage of two and half years. He asked why the government is not paying attention to construction of those water storages on which consensus has arleady been crafted.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that the government’s bad governance and criminal role of police got exposed in Kasur. He said that after confirmation of rape of 239 children by the investigation team, the provincial minister for law, who described this as feud between two families, should be sent home. He said that the masses wronged by the brutal police and insensitive rulers have been forced to take their lives with their own hands.
The meeting adopted a resolution which expressed extreme dismay on the suicide of those who took this extreme decision after having been wronged by police and revenue departments. It said that the incidents were a slap on the face of the Punjab government.
Khurram Nawaz Gandpaur said that the Punjab Chief Minister tries to mask his incompetence by staging the drama of dismissals over recurring tragedies across the province. He said that a police which can kill innocent people in the broad day light does not have to fear breaking of law as it knows that it can go scot free. He said that police cannot commit oppression without patronage and support of the political elite.
