Dynastic politics defining so-called democracy: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri
PAT Chairman Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri has asked as to how long the national security institutions will continue to do that part of a work, which is the responsibility of the government. He said that the government has even withdrawn its symbolic attention from the war on terrorism. He said that more than 800 incidents of terrorism in the country during the last eight months and martyrdom of hundreds of people in them are the glaring proof of its failure. He said that the civil government is converting the military successes achieved on the battlefield into failure in cities. He asked where has the National Action Plan and the consensus on it gone?
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri expressed these views while talking on telephone to the central Core Committee members Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, SM Zameer and Makhdoom Nadeem Hashmi yesterday.
Dr Qadri said that the country is passing through critical times, while the Prime Minister remains busy in political gimmicks. He said that the fact that the session of the National Assembly was not convened till the former Speaker who was de-seated held his position again is an undeniable proof of dynastic autocracy. Is it what is called democracy? Is there no issue facing the people and the country which is worthy of a discussion at the floor of parliament? He said that terrorism, corruption, lawlessness and poverty constitute the core issues even today and the government is showing criminal negligence in this regard.
The PAT Chairman said that the rulers have not gone beyond paying lip service to such important matters as activation of NACTA, introduction of reforms in religious seminaries, peace curriculum and launch of quick response force. He said that the masses face serious threats at the hands of terrorists even today, which is manifest from hundreds of incidents of terrorism during the current year. He further said that the so-called democratic system of Pakistan is defined by dynastic politics and a culture of one-man show. He said that the whole politics of the ruling party revolves around personalities and dynasty.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that Islamic Curriculum on Peace and Counter-Terrorism launched by MQI and PAT has been getting international acclaim, whereas the rulers having soft corner for extremists are victim of vindictive politics on this important national issue as they have turned a blind to this scholarly effort. He said that we will make the rulers break with the extremists with the support of the peace loving masses.
Dr Qadri further said that as long as the members who are supporters of the government continue to serve in the ECP, the people would not be able to get the constitutional right of using their vote in accordance with its essence. He said that no one should imagine fair, free and transparent elections till removal of the illegally appointed members of the ECP and electoral reforms. He said that the important issue of electoral reforms and reconstitution of the ECP to which the PAT drew attention in 2012 continues to remain the same, adding that the current electoral structure is the mother of all problems.
