Speakers at MYL seminar deplore political gimmicks of rulers
The government is busy in playing political gimmicks instead of dealing with terrorism. The present and previous two governments committed negligence vis-à-vis the mischief of terrorism and extremism. Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri has ignited a candle of light in the darkness by presenting Islamic curriculum on peace and counter-terrorism. The military operation against terrorism is the first and much needed solid step towards its eradication but the real victory will be achieved by eradicating disparity, inequality and injustice of every kind. It essentially involves a battle of hearts and minds through promotion of knowledge or what can more appropriately be termed as ‘Zarb-e-Ilm’.
These views were expressed by senior PAT leaders while addressing the seminar titled “Islamic Curriculum on Peace and Counter-Terrorism” held under the banner of Minhaj-ul-Quran Youth League here at the party’s central secretariat. PAT President Dr Raheeq Abbasi, Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, MYL President Mazhar Alvi, Mrs. Farah Naz and Irfan Yousaf Chaudhry addressed the seminar.
A resolution was adopted on the occasion, which paid glowing tributes to PAT chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri for designing Islamic curriculum on peace and counter-terrorism. It also demanded enforcement of the peace curriculum at the official level. The resolution was moved by Tanvir Khan.
Addressing the seminar, Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi said that Islamic curriculum on peace and counter-terrorism is the unique scholarly initiative of its kind. He said that beyond claims and rhetoric to crush terrorism, the kind of steps required to eliminate terrorism at the governmental level were not taken. He said that this curriculum will help bridge this gulf now.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that the founding leader of MQI and PAT Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri has rendered a great service to humanity by launching Islamic curriculum on peace and counter-terrorism. He advised his opponents to study the contents of curriculum without any bias, allow this curriculum to become a source of knowledge and awareness for the youth and stop their negative ways. He said that by presenting peace curriculum, Dr Qadri has shut the mouths of declared and undeclared allies of the extremists. He said that this curriculum is equally beneficial for the students, teachers, religious scholars and common people at the same time.
MYL President Mazhar Alvi said on the occasion that Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri believes in the idea of politics for the sake of service and politics for the sake of humanity. He said that the PAT leader did not let anything affect his research work for the coming generations despite all the hardships and difficulties. He said that it is now the students’ responsibility to go through the contents of this curriculum as a regular feature of their study, promising that their perspective on and of live will change. He said that we are lucky that we have a great scholarly personality of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri’s stature amongst us.
MWL President Mrs. Farah Naz said that the present government is neither doing anything with regard to eliminating terrorism and dealing with extremism nor letting anyone do it. She said that the rulers are using national resources to stop the way of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri. She said that they cannot stop the voice of truth. She said that terrorism has rendered the foundations of our democratic, political, social and economic system hollow. She said that the military is fighting terrorists whereas the Prime Minister is busy playing political games to bring his political opponents into disrepute. She said that the present rulers are not serious in eradicating terrorism and extremism, which is a national crime. She said that Islamic curriculum on peace and counter-terrorism is equally beneficial for women and helpful for their character building and awareness.
MSM President Irfan Yousaf Chaudhry said that the country lost over 50,000 people, suffered loss of billions of dollars to the national economy but the previous governments have not given the kind of serious attention to tackling the twin menace of terrorism and extremism that it demanded. He said that this inaction has resulted in growth of terrorism and consequent military action to uproot it. He said that the National Action Plan has been compromised as it is not being implemented the way it should. He said that MQI and PAT are in the leading the effort against terrorism and extremism at intellectual and scholarly level in association with civil society. He said that Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri is a source of encouragement and determination for the youth.
