Facts begin to emerge about fake elections: PAT

In his reaction to the Election Tribunal’s order of re-polling in NA-125 and PP-55 after rigging was proven in these constituencies, PAT President Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi has said that truth has ultimately prevailed as fake elections have proven to be what they were. He said that Khawaja Saad Rafique has been unfair to the presiding officers when he chose to criticize their ‘benefactors’, adding that proof regarding PML-N’s mandate in Lahore being fake is worthy of pondering, whereas the party does not have much of a standing in other districts. He said that PAT’s point of view about fake elections has been proven right.

The PAT President said that the verdict of Election Tribunal would have far-reaching consequences beyond NA-125. He said that the judge of the Tribunal has also proposed action against ROs and presiding officers, which is quite significant. He said that facts have started to emerge before the nation about the fraudulent electoral exercise. He asked what kind of democracy it is wherein an MNA having fake mandate stays on as the federal minister of Railways for two years and receives privileges.

PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that mere order of re-polling is not enough. He said that those who have been involved in this highly questionable exercise in any manner should be punished according to electoral laws in place. He demanded that salary and privileges enjoyed by the fake minister should be taken back. He said that action should be taken against all concerned under Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.
