MQI wants UN, OIC to act against blasphemers
Sahibzada Faiz-ur-Rehman Durrani, central Amir of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, has said that those who have indulged in the evil act of publishing blasphemous caricatures of the revered Prophet (SAW), a great proponent of not only rights of the women, children but also the animals and plants, are enemies of both humanity and international peace. He said that those who equate democracy and human rights with religion are pushing the world into a clash by continuing with their evil and intolerable ways in the name of freedom of expression. He said that this attitude is highly condemnable, adding that terrorists exploit such opportunity to push forward their radical agenda.
Sahibzada Faiz-ur-Rehman Durrani expressed these views while addressing an emergency meeting of Minhaj-ul-Quran Ulama Council in the central secretariat yesterday. Allama Farhat Hussain Shah, Allama Imdadullah Qadri, Allama Asif Abkar Mir, Allama Ghulam Asghar Saddiqi, Allama Mumtaz Saddiqi, Allama Latif Madni and Rana Muhammad Idrees Qadri were also present on the occasion.
Faiz-ur-Rehman Durrani said that MQI joins the Muslim community and the civilized world in condemning the perpetrators of this unpardonable crime and demand that they should be proceeded against in the international court of justice. He said that the UN and OIC should convene emergency meetings to discuss the prevalent situation. He said that divine religions strictly forbid blasphemy of holy personages, Books and religious symbols, adding that it is responsibility of followers of all faiths that they raise their collective voice against this heinous act. He said that those who have blasphemed are the criminals of the whole humanity as they have hurt the feelings of over a billion Muslim.
He further demanded of the UN to ensure implementation of its resolutions regarding sanctity of the holy personages and divine religions. He asked the rulers of the Muslim countries to represent the aspirations of their people in a bold manner by rising above their expediencies. He also appealed to the Muslims not to resort to violent agitation, adding that they should express their emotions peacefully in a civilized manner. He said that every Muslim is hurt by this act and attack on the person of the Holy Prophet (SAW) is an attack on entire humanity.
