PAT forms bodies to oversee Dec 17 protest day rallies
LAHORE (11 December 2014) The Pakistan Awami Tehreek has formed a committee to oversee the arrangements for the December 17 protest day on the completion of six months of the Model Town incident in which 14 innocent PAT workers were martyred. The special committee will vbe headed by Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz.
In its first meeting the committee reviewed the arrangements for the December 17 protest day and formed further 20 sub-committees which will be responsible for making the day a success all over the country. The head of the committee said that the PAT will not rest till justice is provided to the families of the martyrs and justice prevails.
He said what larger crime could the state commit than the one it committed in Model Town where 14 innocent PAT workers were killed and to date no one has been arrested. He demanded free, fair and impartial investigation into the Model Town incident. He said that all the civil rights societies, organizations and human rights organizations should not restrict their activities to just educating the masses on their rights but rather they should come out against this corrupt system and start a movement against this system and corrupt rulers. He said once the castle of Islam has now been turned into a corrupt state and cracks are visible in this regard.
He said the Joint Investigative Team has already been given a written agenda and has been instructed to give its decision within 15 days and the decision has already been written at the Patilia House.
