PAT & allied parties meet in Lahore

A meeting of allied parties of Pakistan Awami Tehreek was held in the provincial office of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen in Lahore, which was attended by leaders of PAT, PML-Q, Sunni Ittehad Council and Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen.

A joint communiqué, issued after conclusion of the meeting, said that we are in full agreement with PTI on the point of sending the present government home but added that so far as the November 30 event of PTI is concerned, its details have not been shared with PAT and its allies. It further stated that a PTI delegation promised to meet with leadership of PAT and allied parties to apprise them about the nature of its programme on November 30 in Islamabad but the meeting could not take place.

The leaders said that in the light of these circumstances, it is not possible to reach at a decision to attend PTI’s public meeting. They expressed their concern on the illness of PAT leader Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri and prayed for his early recovery.

The meeting also rejected submission of challan in anti-terrorism court in the Model Town incident and establishment of partisan JIT. It condemned the government for these actions maintaining that the biggest impediment in the way of justice is the government itself. The leaders of the allied parties also strongly condemned the killings of JUI-F leader Dr Khalid Soomro, MWM leader Allama Nawaz Irfani, the uncle of MQM leader Amir Baloch. They asked the government to apprehend the perpetrators of these killings at the earliest.

The meeting also expressed serious concern on the poor law and order situation in the country in general and Punjab in particular. It urged the government to arrest anti-peace elements and terrorists to secure life, honor and property of people instead of using the state machinery to victimize the political workers. The participants of the meeting strongly condemned Senator Pervez Rashid’s statement in which he had said that Gilgit-Baltistan is not part of Pakistan. They asked the minister for information to explain which country GB is part of if not Pakistan. They termed Pervez Rashid’s statement as one that undermined the federation of the country.

PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur and Sajid Bhatti, PML-Q leader Mian Muneer, SIC leader Mufti Muhammad Hafeez and MWM leaders Allama Asad Naqvi represented their parties in the meeting.
