Christian community shocked by massacre of PAT workers: Joseph Francis
A top-level delegation of Pakistan Christian National Party led by its Chairman Joseph Francis visited the central secretariat of Minhaj-ul-Quran International. Vice Chairman Marten Javed Michael, spokesperson Samuel Payara, Zia Khokar and Dr Baber were other members of the delegation. PAT leaders led by Director of Interfaith Relations Sohail Ahmad Raza received the respected delegates.
The delegation held a meeting with PAT President Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi in his office. They strongly condemned police brutality in Model Town on the workers of PAT on June 17 and demanded that FIR of the victims’ families should be registered forthwith. They said that the Punjab Chief Minister should immediately resign from his position to allow the process of justice to take its natural course. They said that the members of Christianity community were shocked and horrified at the massacre of PAT workers by the Punjab police.
Talking to the delegation, PAT President Dr Abbasi said that PAT was waging a struggle for restoration of rights of all Pakistanis irrespective of any discrimination of caste, creed, colour and race. He said that special steps would be taken to improve the well being of minority communities living in Pakistan after revolution. He said that the present government pushed the minorities against the wall and deprived them of their due rights as promised by the Constitution. He thanked the delegation for expressing solidarity with PAT.
