Participatory democracy to be ushered in after revolution: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri addresses workers from Bahawalpur and Multan
PAT leader Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that people are the source and repository of power. He said that power or authority was a sacred trust which the people entrusted to the rulers for the sole purpose of fulfillment of their rights enshrined in the Constitution. He said that the rulers committed extreme dishonesty in this trust and kept the people deprived of their rights, undermined state institutions and damaged national interest by abusing power. He said that the rulers violated Article 6 by practically suspending the Preamble and first 40 Articles of the Constitution that dealt with the rights of the people, adding that they should be proceeded against under the said law.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri stated this while addressing thousands of union council level leaders of PAT belonging to Multan and Bahawalpur in the party’s secretariat. He said that social contract between the masses and rulers had broken down for all intents and purposes and the present rulers had lost their right to rule. He said that time had come to return trust of power to the masses by sending the rulers home. He said that the masses would take to the streets on his call to show their no-confidence in the rulers. He said that the day of revolution would be the last of day for the rulers to be in power, for a new social contract would replace the old one on this day and the power would be transferred to real representatives of people.
Dr Qadri said that he would lay the foundation stone of real participatory democracy by including one million people in power. He said that establishment of real democracy after strict accountability and reforms was one of the objectives of his life. He said that people had a right to send the rulers home if the latter suspended their rights.
