PAT, AML, PML-Q all set to welcome Qadri on arrival

RAWALPINDI - The leaders of Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT), Awami Muslim League (AML) and Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid) have said that a warm welcome would be accorded to PAT Chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri upon his arrival at Benazir Bhutto Islamabad International Airport (BBIIA) tomorrow (Monday).

They also alleged that the city district government Rawalpindi (CDGR) and police were using tactics to sabotage the preparations to welcome Qadri. They warned that the situation might go out of control in the city if somebody tried to halt them from receiving their beloved leader or divert his airplane.

PAT Central Chief Organiser Muhammad Hanif Chaudhry, Deputy Secretary General Sardar Mansoor-ul-Qadri, city president Malik Muhammad Afzal, AML city president Sheikh Rashid Shafique and PML-Q leader and former provincial law minister Raja Muhammad Basharat expressed these views at a press conference here on Saturday.

Addressing the conference, Hanif Chaudhry said that the authorities have been creating hurdles for workers on the orders of RPO Rawalpindi in hiring transport for procession. He said that PAT and its allies wanted to remain peaceful despite losing lives of their 11 workers in Lahore but if the CDGR and police attempted to disturb them, the government would be responsible for all mess. “We want to give peaceful welcome to our chief,” he made it clear. He said that they held many meetings with the district administrations but got no positive response.

The PML-Q would set up a welcome camp on BBIIA in which workers across the province would come in shape of convoys, said Raja Basharat. He said the rulers should also learn the lesson from the logical end of Law Minister Rana Sanaullah and Principal Secretary to CM Dr Tauqir Shah. “We want to welcome Qadri instead of creating agitation,” Raja added.

Announcing AML schedule, Sheikh Rashid Shafique said that a procession would move towards BBIIA from Lal Haveli after Namaz-e-Fajr to receive Qadri. “AML President Sheikh Rashid Ahmed will also join Qadri’s rally though he is facing security threats,” Rashid informed.

Replying to a question, Hanif Chaudhry said that Qadri would lead the rally from Islamabad to Lahore in a container and this was being done to avoid any terror attack on him.
