PML-Q leaders off to Dubai to welcome Qadri
The central leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid left for Dubai on Friday to welcome Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri and will accompany him to Islamabad on June 23.
Haleem Adil Sheikh, the party’s provincial president, had flown out to Dubai a day earlier and in a telephonic conversation informed The News that the entire PML-Q leadership planned to accord a major welcome to Qadri and then head directly to the federal capital.
The Chaudhry brothers and Qadri are spearheading a movement against the PML-N government, which they contend has seized power through a rigged election and is “illegitimate and unconstitutional”.
The main aim of their planned demonstrations is the implementation of a formalised 10-point agenda, which they have vowed to achieve either through pressure or by trouncing the government.
“The anti-government nexus is fully active and the nation will witness a revolution on June 23. Thousands of people await the arrival of Qadri and the Chaudhrys, who will be the harbinger of a major change in Pakistan’s political system,” said Sheikh. “The formation of a new and real democratic government is imminent, while the removal of those who had come to power by robbing public mandate is inevitable.”
