Qadri seeks to lodge FIR against Sharifs, others: application filed
Director Administration Minhajul Quran Jawad Hamid filed an application with the Faisal Town Police station on Thursday for registration of murder cases against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Hamza Shahbaz and 21 others over Lahore mayhem. Earlier, PAT Chief Allama Tahirul Qadri had expressed no confidence in the provincial government and declined to lodge an FIR with police, which he claimed were killers of his party workers. PML (Q) leaders Senator Kamil Ali Agha, former Law Minister Dr Khalid Ranjha, Chairman Sunni Ittehad Council Sahibzada Hamid Raza accompanied by Jawad Hamid went to the police station to file the application. Federal Ministers Kh. Asif, Chaudhry Nisar, Pervaiz Rashid, Khwaja Saad Rafique, Abid Sher Ali, Rana Sanaullah, ex CCPO Lahore Shafiq Gujjar, DIG operations Rana Abdul Jabbar, SSP Tariq Aziz are also among those nominated in the application.
Talking to media persons Senator Kamil Agha and Dr Khalid Ranjha said Naib Moharrar Ansar Amin had received their application and gave a receipt No 657/5B/FB. However, the SHO did not turn up though he had promised to come back in one hour. They said Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif should fulfil his promise and order registration of a case over the killings of more than one dozen innocent persons and injuries to over 100 people by police. They said "we have done our legal duty. It is now for the Law officers and media to perform their duties. We believe that the police will not register an FIR against the accused," they added.
They said Chief Minister had stated that he would side with those who act in accordance with law. "We have come to register an FIR under the law, therefore Shahbaz Sharif should now order registration of an FIR." They warned that if the FIR was not lodged as per law, then there would be a massive unrest.
Earlier, a delegation of PML (Q) led by Central Information Secretary Senator Kamil Ali Agha and Dr Khalid Ranjha participated in the funeral prayers of a student who succumbed to his injuries and assured PAT leaders of their party's full support to Dr Tahirul Qadri. The delegation included members provincial assembly Waqqas Hassan Moakal, Muhammad Shah Khagga and a large number of party workers. Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain's son Salik Hussain condoled with Dr Tahirul Qadri's son Hassan Mohiuddin.
