Floral wreath on behalf of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri laid at memorials of martyrs of 1965 war
No nation can remain indifferent to its defence. The more impregnable the national defence is, the greater the confidence of the nation. The war of September 6, 1965 is a metaphor of honour and unflinching perseverance for the Pakistani nation. The way Pakistani armed forces moved to secure the country’s frontiers reminded the world that we were a living nation. The sons of the soils offered the ultimate sacrifice of their lives in the September war. Today, the country faces the war imposed by the terrorists and the soldiers of the armed forces are rendering the sacrifice of their lives for the protection of the motherland. September 6 reminds us of the heroic sacrifices rendered in defence of the motherland. Some days are really unique in the lives of a nation that establish its identity as a brave and self-respecting nation. On this day, every one of us should make a resolve to leave no stone unturned for defence of the country’s territorial and ideological frontiers and convey the spirit of the day to our coming generations.
These views were expressed by Hafiz Ghulam Farid, General Secretary of MQI Lahore, while laying the floral wreath on behalf of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri and paying his respects at the memorials of the proud sons of the soil who rendered their lives during 1965 war. PAT President of Lahore chapter Chaudhry Afzal Gujjar, Ilyas Doger, Sanaullah Khan, Ghulam Rabbani Tamur, and others were also present on the occasion. The MQI delegation placed the floral wreath at the memorials of Captain Sarwar Shaheed, Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed, Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed and other martyrs of 1965 war.
Ghulam Farid said that in order to making Pakistan politically and economically stable, it was important to work for a new Pakistan under the competent, credible and honest leadership. He said that it was possible only when every Pakistani worked peacefully and democratically for change in the electoral system, which was the real enemy of the people and at heart of travails facing the nation. He said that the masses needed to imbibe the spirit of September 6 to win a war against the corrupt and elitist electoral system so that the country could carve out a respectable place in the comity of nations and emerge as one of the economic powers in larger Asian continent.
