Prevailing crises outcome of present system: MQI
Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz, acting Secretary General of MQI, has said that the clouds of insecurity, unemployment, lawlessness, dearness, load-shedding and injustice had enveloped the people of Pakistan. He said that these ‘gifts’ were outcome of the prevalent electoral system, which was their biggest enemy. He said that though some political parties were talking of ‘change’, but what they needed to know was that the political structure was constructed of non-democratic ingredients in which interests of privileged elite are secured.
Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz expressed these views while telephonically talking to S.M. Zameer, President of PAT, Sindh. He said that climaxing of political tussle in the country indicated that the powerful elite had made complete arrangements to dupe the masses in the name of elections. He said that a candidate contesting for a berth in the National Assembly would spend anything from Rs. 100 million to 200 million and resort to hooliganism, corruption and illegal means. He questioned how a representative system would be installed if a candidate being voted into the Assemblies had such ‘wonderful’ expenditures at his back.
Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz asked the people to stage peaceful protest against the replacement of present electoral system by one, which is pro-people and have capacity to resolve their problems. He reminded the people that people’s fate did not change unless they endeavoured for it themselves.
