Change possible through public awareness: Dr Raheeq Abbasi
Secretary General of MQI Dr Raheeq Abbasi has said that change would not come by becoming part of system but by clashing against it. He said that the present electoral system was the biggest enemy of the people and a system which is characterized by vested interests of 2% of privileged elite cannot be dubbed as democracy.
Dr Abbasi expressed these views while addressing the meeting Central Working Council of MQI today.
He said that 180 million people did not enjoy any kind of rights under the incumbent system so much so that their fundamental right to decent life had also been taken away from them. He said that lies were being told at the floor of assemblies and the verdicts of the apex court were being ridiculed.
Dr Abbasi said that Pakistan’s security and sovereignty were seriously threatened. He asked the people to wake up to the dangers posed to the country and play their role in eliminating them. He said that real change could come about if people struggled against the electoral system. He said that MQI’s Public Awareness Campaign would lay the foundation of real change in the country through peaceful means.
