Panama leaks a drop in ocean of corruption: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri
PAT Chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that the Panama leaks is merely a drop in the ocean of corruption. He said that many more Panamas are waiting in the wings to be revealed. He said that legislation is being thought over due to fear of more revelations and protect the money stashed abroad. He asked as to why the 24th Constitutional Amendment is inevitable when the corruption case of the ruling family is in the court of law. He said that the perpetrators of the Model Town tragedy should know that the second round of the Qisas movement remains, adding that the sacrifices will not be rendered by the poor and democracy loving people of the country this time round.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri expressed these views while talking to PAT lawyers’ team on the telephone yesterday. Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Rai Bashir Advocate, Mustaghees Jawad Hamid, Naeem-ud-Din Chaudhry Advocate, and Shakeel Mumka Advocate were present on the occasion.
PAT lawyer’s team head Rai Bashir Advocate briefed the PAT Chairman about the latest situation of the private complaint in the Model Town case currently being heard by the antiterrorism court. He told him that the judge of the antiterrorism court, Ch. Muhammad Azam, asked the government side as to the whereabouts of DIG Rana Abdul Jabbar during the course of the proceedings. The official lawyers showed their ignorance about it. Responding to the answer, the judge directed the government’s lawyers that the court should be informed about DIG.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that the rulers have given refuge to the nominated police officers because they fear that in case of fair trial, these police officers will churn out names of their political masters. He said that it is unfortunate that corrupt mafia continues to rule the country, adding if it were not so the Model Town, Panama and News leaks cases should have been decided as per law and the constitution by now. He said that the characters involved in the Panama leaks are making new laws and introducing amnesty schemes to protect their ill-gotten wealth. He said that a corrupt family is using Parliament to defend its corruption, adding that in no democratic country of the world does anyone use state resources for vested interest but regretted that such a thing is happening here in broad day light.
