We have not forgotten our martyrs, justice at every cost: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri
PAT chief Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that the blood of martyrs is not so cheap that the JIT of killers will be able to push the issue under the carpet. He said that the JIT distorted facts with abandon and tore the very idea of justice into shreds. He said that we are grateful to anchorpersons, civil society, the heads of like-minded parties and particularly the opposition in the Punjab Assembly for raising their voice for the martyrs and staging a walk out of the Assembly session in protest against the one-side JIT report respectively.
The PAT chief expressed these views while addressing a hurriedly called consultative meeting of PAT at the central secretariat yesterday. He said that the manner in which the JIT has given a clean chit to the planners and actual killers is both shameful as well as worthy of condemnation. He said that three months have passed since we have filed a plea in the court to get a copy of Judicial Tribunal’s report prepared by Justice Ali Baqar Najfi but the same has not been provided to us despite our best efforts. He said that those questioning us should tell where else should we go and which door of law should we knock at?
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that we have decided to take to the streets peacefully against oppression in Model Town as staging a peaceful protest is a fundamental right guaranteed by the Constitution. He directed all PAT and MQI workers across the country to take active part in the demonstrations being held in their cities to show solidarity with their martyred brothers and sisters and express their disapproval of the system of oppression. He said that the JIT consisting of henchmen and personal servants issued the same report as was provided to them. He said that if the rulers think that they are innocent, then why are they afraid of forming an impartial JIT that enjoys the confidence of families of martyrs?
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that if the rulers consider the military as neutral and unbiased, they should transfer the Model Town case to the military court, adding that we would not have any objection to such a move. He said that the Army Chief who played his part in registration of FIR in Model Town case is requested to play his further role in provision of justice to those who were martyred at the hands of police.
The PAT leader said that the whole world saw that police’s raid, and direct firing was unilateral and despite this, it has been written in the report that firing was done by both sides and that both sides suffered loss. He asked the PM and the CM to tell as to which TV footage showed MQI/PAT worker firing and that which loss of human life did the police suffer consequently? Addressing the martyrs, he said: my sons and daughters; we have not forgotten you and we would leave no stone unturned till we get justice for you and make the killers go to gallows.
