Elections alone can’t be regarded as democracy, says Qadri
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief, Dr Tahirul Qadri while speaking on the International Day of Democracy, has said that the Pakistani nation is deprived of the benefits of democracy, ARY News reported.
Addressing the participants of the PAT sit-in, Dr Tahirul Qadri said that elections alone cannot be regarded as democracy; rather the concept of democracy means to end the difference between rich and poor.
He added that making it to the assemblies on the basis of fake votes is no democracy.
The PAT chief said that the democracy is based upon social justice, which is aimed at empowering the people up to the grass-root level. He reiterated his stance that for bringing true democracy here, entire system of the country will have to be changed, injustice needs to be ended and the provision of human rights to all the citizens is utmost necessary.
Qadri vowed to provide a house to every homeless person and to provide all the basic facilities to the people at their doorstep, once a revolution takes place in the country.
“The unemployed people will be given stipend, while the needy persons will also be provided loans for 25 years period on easy installments”, he added.
The PAT chief also vowed to break off the hands of the ones involved in corruption.
Tahirul Qadri said every child will be provided free education up till matriculation and vowed to provide equal rights to everyone in the society.
Speaking about TTP Punjab’s announcement to quit militancy, he welcomed the move and said that terrorism will be completely eliminated from the state through his revolutionary policies.
