Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri speaks at World Conference, meets President of Iran
Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, President of MQI’s Federal Council, paid a 3-day official visit to Iran to attend an international conference organized by Iran. He was accompanied by Sohail Ahmad Raza, Director of MQI’s Directorate of Interfaith Relations. The visit began on April 29 and concluded on May 01, 2013. Dr Ali Akbar Vality, former Minister for Foreign Affairs and presently Advisor to the Government of Iran on Religious Affairs, had invited Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri to Iran. The World Assembly of Islamic Awakening, Government of Iran, was the host of the event.
A delegation of high-ranking office holders of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening led by Dr Ali Najafi warmly welcomed Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri and Sohail Ahmad Raza at the Tehran International Airport. They were presented with bouquets of flowers and taken to a local 5-star hotel.
The Iranian government organized the international conference of scholars from the Muslim world in view of fast-paced changes taking place in the world in general and changing dynamics of the Islamic world in particular. 700 delegates from 70 Muslim countries attended the conference. A six-member delegation represented Pakistan.
The proceedings of the World Conference got underway on April 29, 2013. Supreme leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was the chief guest on the occasion. In his opening address, the Iranian leader welcomed all the delegates and talked of the need to establish unity in the ranks of the Muslim world.
After inauguration of the conference, the delegates were divided into four groups and each group was allocated a separate topic for discussion and deliberations. The session of the conference was attended by scholars, researchers, and the heads of Islamic movements from across the Muslim world. They exchanged views on challenges facing the Muslim world and mulled over ways and means to overcome these challenges.
Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri was allocated the topic of “Unity of Umma and Reason of Sectarianism”. Expressing his views, Dr Hussain dilated upon the subject of decline of Muslim world in the global background, possible ways to get out of it, and a comprehensive roadmap for a better future of the Islamic world. He also highlighted the need of focusing on knowledge, research, and technology development and allocating sufficient resources to achieve these purposes. The delegates appreciated Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri for his meaty and thought-provoking speech.
Mr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, President of Islamic Republic of Iran, was the guest of honour on the concluding session of the Conference. In his concluding address, he openly threw light on the challenges and problems facing the Muslim world and anti-Islam policies of the enemies. He underlined the need of unity among the Muslims of the world to ward off these challenges.
Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri called on Mr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the President of Iran, in the third and concluding session of the conference and exchanged views on matters of mutual interests including aims and objectives of the Conference. The President of Iran took keen interest in the discussion and ardently listened to Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri’s points of view.
Sohail Ahmad Raza also met with the Iranian President and gifted him Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri’s magnum opus ‘Fatwa against Terrorism and Suicide Bombing’. He also gave a detailed introduction of MQI and its leadership. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad appreciated the scholarly work of Shaykh-ul-Islam.
Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri gave several interviews to TV channels and state-run Radio of Iran after the proceedings of the conference were over. He threw light on the political and economic challenges being faced by the Muslim world in addition to matters related to the Conference.
On May 01, Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri and Sohail Ahmad Raza visited headquarters of Economic Cooperation Organization. They took keen interest in the working of various departments of the ECO, an important 10-member regional grouping of which Pakistan is a member.
The officials of the Iranian government saw off Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri on the conclusion of his visit on May 01 and he reached Lahore (Pakistan) on May 02. It was a successful visit in every respect.
